Where are vista screensavers installed |

Another vista irritant. I imported a favorite screensaver and desktop theme from xp and tried to install. Unfortunately, the files were extracted to c\program
files\plus\themes. I have never found that folder even with a search. Where in the world does vista hide the screensaver and desktop installation?

Screensavers are in the system folder which in most systems is c:\windows\system32, they're *.scr files. (back in Win98 it was C:\Windows\System)
The screensaver you're looking at most likely came from one of the many free versions of the Plus pack from Win98, Windows XP does not use a folder named c:\program files\plus\themes Put any *.scr files you have in the C:\Windows\System32 folder and you should be able to use them. Vista is no different in this then Xp or Win2k. |

Thanks much for the reply, Diane.
I did finally find the location of the vista themes. They are in Windows\Resources\themes. It took lots of searching, but I finally located my screensaver and theme unpacked there and could install them. I also found that some vista screensavers are stored in Windows and in Windows\SysWOW as well. Why, I don't know. Thanks as always for the help. rugbyfan1 |
