I've been converting downloaded mpegs to Giga Pocket so that I can view them through Roomlink. First I open the mpegs in Movie Shaker and then exporting them as a Giga Pocket mpeg. Seems simple, right? The problem is that despite the notably larger file size that results from this conversion, the video quality suffers immensely. It looks as though I am watching through bevelled glass. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing some crucial step or setting?

MPEG files downloaded from the Internet have a much lower resolution than MPEG files stored on a DVD. The optical effect you describe is caused during the conversion when the image is expanded to the correct size.
There is no easy way to overcome this. The full version of Premiere can convert the file without resizing the image, but when you watch it, it will be a fraction of the size of your TV. Hi Eddie,
Thanks for the response. I understand that the image needs to be expanded, but I can compile a DVD with Ulead Movie Factory using the same files, yet without the degraded image. Is there not some way to do that with Giga Pocket? Robert |

Unfortunately, GigaPocket does not give you control of the details of the conversion.
Since you say you can convert the files with Ulead Movie Factory, use those files to import into GigaPocket which won't have to do any resizing. Cheers Eddie Please review the FAQ and Think Tank (all pages) before posting. New users, please read this thread. |
