I have the above-mentioned laptop, but seem to have a problem with it.
I am currently using Windows ME , but for some reason, whatever CD I put in the drive, be it an audio CD, a data CD or a blank, it refuses to recognise it, that is, the drive is visible in 'My Computer', but upon trying to open it, I get a 'please insert CD' dialogue box.
I also have a Sony DRX-500ULX DVD+-RW/R drive, which gives the same result through FireWire (i.link, whatever), but seems to function fine through USB.
The system disks for these things are in Australia (point of purchase), so getting to them is a bit difficult from the UK.
Any help in getitng these drives to function properly would be greatly appreciated, or even an indicator as to what has gone wrong so I can try to sort it out would be gratefully recieved,
