Posts: 3 (November 1, 2003 4:15 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None It started with lockups. Now all I get is the standby light (green) then the HD light flickers and the cpu fan starts and immediately stops with the battery light (orange ) lit. The same sequence happens with AC power. I have the sony disassembled and need assistance with what to do next to isolate the problem. I have tried another hard drive with the same results. Does anyone have any ideas?

Started with lockup and then totaly dead. Try to remove memory one at a time, and see if it boots. It will help you determine whether it is memory problem or not. It turns out one of my memory is dead, replaced it with a new memory, works fine now. Most of memory have life time warranty, you may contact the memory mfg to see if you can get a new one.

My GRX-520 experienced the same exact type of failure around July of this year. I just barely got it to Sony before the initial one-year warranty ended. They "resoldered the memory connector" according to the statement of work that I got back with the machine. If you're still in warranty, have Sony take it in under a warranty repair. If not, good luck on the price! Mike

I let it set for a weekend without touching it. I haven't had that problem since. Weird, yes. But, so are these Vaios.
