When printing to tape a seemingly good rendered avi (plays perfectly on computer using Media Player), the first 2.5 min (approx) of audio are not being recorded (or are not loud enough to hear). As I said, the sound is great when played through Media Player but on tape...no joy.

I'm thinking of buying a new 'puter in the next 6 months...starting my digging and researching...one thing I'd like to have is AV editing capability...never used it on the current VAIOs that I have, but I'm planning to get a Sony digital camera and digital video camera soon too...

My problem is that i can't seem to have the camcorder recognized at all. therefore, can't capture any videos on my desktop. the device manager says that the 1394 connection is working properly.

As you may have seen I am having a really hard time editing video.

I had a couple of other thoughts:

I currently have my 260DS set to use virtual memory. min126 max 8045. Should I perhaps disable virtual memory or should I just let windows manage it?

Maybe I need more RAM? I can't remeber exactly but I think I remember that I have 126mb RAM. Should I have more? How much? What kind? Any suggestions?

I have been unsuccesfull in my endeavors to get into DV editting. I have a stock 260DS (Win ME, 800+mhz, 127mb ram, 40gb internal hd w/ 2 partitions) and have tried both the Sony editing software as well as SonicFoundry Video Factory. I am able to capture just fine (the avi's play real nice) but I never have been able to complete a project. either the previews suck within the editting program or the renderings REALLY suck. (i've tried all the codecs...avi, wmv, mov, etc)
