Does anyone know how to get Windows Movie Maker to recognize the Sony TV Tuner in a Vaio Desktop?

Fan issue with VGC-JS320J/S

The fan is frequently blowing loud. I was saving something to a USB drive and walked away from the computer. When I got back it was blowing as loud as a jet engine.

I contacted Sony customer support and they were no help.

Could this be an issue with Vista?

No power for VAIO desktop

I have a Sony VAIO 8510GZ desktop PC. This afternoon I found it powered off, and now it will not power on -- no fans spinning or hard drives starting up. Nothing. I'm wondering if it's likely the power supply died? Are there other likely causes for a complete startup failure? I have the cover off, and nothing looks or smells fried. I blew out some dust, but I have not yet tested the voltage levels on the power supply. The sticker on the power supply lists it at 295.4w max. I found it...

Just dropped by to say 'ello....

...and to say my PCV-RZ22G is still running as it was designed to do, at least for my purposes...recording TV and burning DVDs....I now play shows back from my hard drive to my Samsung 50" DLP HD screen and it is a beautiful sight even is SD record mode...

Actually, for the past couple of years, I've limited the machine to do just that and nothing else...I've long since upgraded RAM to the 1gb max and added a 120gb HDD, and...

I use the laptop solely as my desktop, I don't take it anywhere, it just stay there when I use it at home. I want to save my battery pack. How to save battery on laptop?

Someone said if I take out the battery and don't use it, it will die out anyway so it's better to charge it, drain out the battery and recharge it again. Use it as a portable laptop at home even though I don't need to. But I don't think that is true. And if I keep doing that, isn't it a...

Help with hard drive install

I have come to the point where I am going to have to install a new hard drive in my PCV-RS530G. I am out of space on C drive and the computer is constantly crashing. I need help on how to install the new hard drive. First, what do I buy? How big a hard drive can I put in this computer? Can I use any size I want like a 500 GB? Do I need to get an EIDE or Ultra ATA or Serial ATA? Or is there a difference in these?

linking VAIO to sony tv wirelessly

I've always thought about how feasible is it to make Laptops ( sony VAIO for instance) transmit audio and video to TVs ( Sony TVs for instance) wirelessly.
This could allow users to use their TVs just as a secondary screen to their laptops.
I believe this coming in the near future and Sony has all the capabilities to be a pionner in this.

I'm an old tech who's often called on to fix odd problems. As some of you have discovered to your pain, Sony uses Asus made proprietary mobo's which Asus doesn't support. It appears that the Asus P4SDX is similar enough to the Sony/Asus P4SD-VX and Kirin V (and others?) used in the Vaio PCV series PCs to find fixes....

Sony DW-U12A doesn't read/recognize Media

My Sony DW-U12A DVD burner does not recognize media when I insert into the drive. This includes blank media, music cd or even an actual movie DVD.

The drive is visible in the control panel. I checked the 1st and secondary channels and they are in DMA mode. I uninstalled and rebooted for the device to be recognized by XP. I checked in the bios and auto run is "1". I opened the case and made sure the cables were secure. I believe that 2.0e is the latest firmaware for this...

VGC-RB30 Case Vaio Logo light ?

I just replaced the motherboard in my RB30 (with a non-VAIO board) and now the backlit "VAIO" logo on the front of the case that used to light up in blue, is inoperative. I'm wondering if anyone knows where the connection for that light is? All of the connections to the motherboard SEEM to be made. Any help would be appreciated.

So.... I just spoke to sony tech support and Am I more bewildered ? I installed a new hard drive western digital 160 same model number as the one I replaced ----Its a RAID system thus two hard drives---- I receive an error 157 after trying to restore..... He told me that The problem is either the motherboard (as the raid controller is on the motherboard) or the harddrive is not compatible. I said its exactly the same replacement drive. He said no even though its a Western Digital...

WLL THIS IS FRUSTRATING FOR SURE ---
I have a Sony Vaio vgc rc 210g
Its a RAID system so I have two harddrives -----I want to replace one as its going bad
So I created the recovery disks i installed the new harddrive
its exactly the same as the other one and in my bios menu it does recognize it.
I reboot the computer and the restore disks begins to load...

I recently discovered that the wireless adapter in the PC is only for a network connection between computers in the same environment, but my LAN connection had worked as normal up until recently. So I want to upgrade the graphics card in my pc. Problem is, I don't know if it is possible and I would hate to ruin the monitor. I've never delt with a 2 in 1 pc, monitor and pc in one piece. Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card or am I going to have to just deal with the crappy one that is inside? I talked with sony's online support, but they could not instruct me as it was against their policy to instruct you HOW to install a new video card because they do not recommend...

I've had my VGC-RC204 for a couple of years now and have upgraded the hard disks and memory. But now i'm looking to upgrade the graphics card to an nVidia 9-series model; possible 9800GTX, but am just wondering whether it would work in this system?
Also, I'd ideally like to upgrade the processor but I can't find anywhere with enough information on the system for me to select one? I'd ideally like a quad-core but given the motherboad I'm not sure...

Why Can't I Do a System Restore on C Drive?

VGC-RA830G, all original stock innards.
C, D, E, F, & G partitions. RAID 0
C drive size is 25gb.
I wanted to do a system restore on C drive but I have been getting "insufficient space" error. Upped C drive to 40gb but still a no go.
I hate to do a system restore that erases all the partitions. Any suggestions for a workaround? Thank, guys.

Hi,

I plugged into one of the front usb ports my HP/IPAQ Pocket PC which normally works with MS Active Sync and it would not work? my usb wireless mouse also did not work.

Going into control panel Human Interfaces Devices were missing so I rebooted and checked the Bios which stated that the usb and mass storage devices were "Not Installed" I cannot find what made them stop! any ideas please.
