The thing is that now I am thinking about doing some drastic changes (Installing Linux ...). That means I have to mess around with the partitions (create space, then 2 new partitions).

it cant be that it is impossible to install xp correctly with all functions for example the hotkey. i got the recovery cds from win2000 and also from winxp but xp doesnt work.

is there sure no way to change my configuration?

I having trouble updating my video drivers. Here is my laptop config:

P4 2.8 Ghx
512Mb ram
nvidia GForce FX 5600 Go 64MB Card

I'm trying to update these, but after I install the updated drivers, the version number remains the same, does not go up. Is there a particular way to update drivers?

I'm a V505BX user and like many others I was stuck trying to find a way of reinstalling Sony utilities (Hotkeys, Powepanel, Sony utils dll etc) after a clean reinstallation of the OS.

I have the above-mentioned laptop, but seem to have a problem with it.

I am currently using Windows ME , but for some reason, whatever CD I put in the drive, be it an audio CD, a data CD or a blank, it refuses to recognise it, that is, the drive is visible in 'My Computer', but upon trying to open it, I get a 'please insert CD' dialogue box.

Both ghost and drive image will back up over a network (and presumably restore) but only with DOS drivers for the network card. New to the forum....and I reviewed the FAQs and Think Tank...couldn't find an answer...

New computer, received 8/6...have not upgraded or made any significant changes whatsoever...I woke yesterday and realized I didn't get recovery discs. But then it gave me the option to burn them...great!
