I used to have 512MB (2x256MB) RAM in my notebook and out of nowhere, the system is just recognizing one module in the first socket. Both modules work fine in the first and none are recognized in the second slot.
Is there a fix for this? Should I try a bios update or is just the hardware broken?

My problem:
A few months ago my laptop suddenly stopped acknowledging that the battery was in. Neither battery light would come up (with the battery in either bay). Also, if the power gets unplugged the laptop shuts right off as if there is no battery.

I don't have the VPN problem, and other computers I have with PCMCIA wireless cards don't have it, but I've been having intermittant problems staying connected. Regardless of signal, (99% of the time I have every signal bar) I lose the connection, but then regain it sometimes seconds later.

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. A few weeks ago my z505rx
harddrive died. I went to install a new one and the z505rx wouldnt
recognize it (Fujitsu 20G). I have four other harddrives (Travelstar
4G, Travelstar 12G, IBM 1.6G, and Toshiba 80 Megs). I tried all five
hard drives. The laptop will only recognize the 1.6G and the 80
megs.

My grx570 (with the great 16" display!) is starting to have problems and sony's recommendation is to spend $2400 to replace the MB!

Anyway, if I have to scrap the computer, it would be great to somehow salvage this expensive display! Has anyone attempted this????? A 16" flat panel with 1600x1200 resolution would be worth a bit of effort!
