I have a PCG-R505AFT with an internal 12.1 inch display at 1024x768. At home, I sometimes plug it into an external 15 inch LCD also at 1024x768.

However, I'm considering buying a bigger external LCD, possibly a 17 incher at 1280x1024. I don't see any options anywhere to change the resolution higher than the built-in resolution of 1024x768.

There's no response when pressing the power button (no blinking lights). I wiggled the power connection to the AC adapter to try to rule out a physically bad connection.

Any other things I can try?

When it only lasted 10 minutes I thought I was ripped. But I talked to the mfg and he said the vaio software often gets confused with new batteries. He recommended I fully discharge the battery and than recharge fully.

My problem is I can't discharge it! Every time I use it the notebook shuts down.

Does anyone know how to discharge this battery?

Anyone had this problem?
